Palatka, FL, is home to many families enjoying excellent amenities, including parks and dining. For take-out food for a picnic or to dine in, here are three top-rated family restaurants well worth the drive.

3 Family Restaurants Worth the Drive Near Palatka, FL

1. Corky Bell’s Seafood at Gator Landing

Located at 185 S US Highway 17 at Gator Landing, this is a family favorite for the East Palatka river views and the great food. Even those not fond of seafood can choose from the “Beef and Bird” section of the menu, where you’ll find steak, ribs, and chicken dishes. Seafood lovers have plenty to choose from, and shrimp, lobster, and oysters are just a few. If you need help deciding, consider a Corky’s Platter of mixed seafood cooked to your preference.

Children & Seniors

This is a great place for bringing Grandma or Grandpa along! Corky’s menu includes Senior Citizen Specials, such as single seafood selections or mixed platters, and dishes like flounder stuffed with crab and Monterey Jack cheese. The kiddo meals include seafood dinners and classic child favorites like a hotdog, corndog, chicken strips, a burger, or a grilled cheese sandwich. The kid’s meal choices may include fries, coleslaw, applesauce, and a drink.

2. Lori’s

When you want to take the family out for a hearty breakfast where the locals go, Lori’s at 2401 Crill Avenue hits the spot. This popular eatery features a casual, no-frills, friendly atmosphere and value-packed home cooking. Of course, you’ll find all the usual favorites like omelets, French toast, pancakes, and a variety of breakfast meats. In addition, there’s plenty to choose from for sides, including biscuits, grits, hash browns, and home fries.

Lori’s is known for good coffee with refills, so grab a cup to go on your way out of the diner. The console cup holder in your Ford Edge can conveniently hold your coffee while you drive.

3. Angel’s Dining Car

As part of the Historic District, Angel’s Dining Car at 209 Reid Street is renowned as Florida’s oldest diner. It dates to 1932, and you can’t miss its long narrow railway car shape and colorful striped awnings. There are covered picnic tables outside and a mix of tables and counter stools inside, plus high chairs for the little ones. Although it’s a smaller place and often busy, parking is usually available.

Classic breakfast foods are served up casually here, along with sandwiches, salads, burgers, chicken, fries, and onion rings. There are also some diner-style meals like pork chops or shrimp, plus a kid’s menu with the usual popular children’s favorites.
